Nevada County Narrow Gauge Project - On3 Railroad Display

Would you like to be a part of history, or help out your community, or share the knowledge of the county's railroad history with others! Well, we have things to do in all shapes and sizes! - from model building to telling the public railroad history stories at our open houses! The trains inside are electric, but - a new project - the trains outside on our patio are real "live steam" model engines. For more information about membership? Come see us at the layout! - First Saturday of the month - Noon to 1pm - If you are interested in model railroading, or the historical railroad history of Nevada County, we have something for you! The NCNG Project is always looking for anyone interested in working on a historical model railroad (both skilled or beginning modelers) to help with the project, or historical buffs interested in being docents at our open houses. [Special note - these work sessions are generally canceled whenerver there is a paid admission event at the fairgounds. There may be a parking fee at some free events held at the fairgroungs. Otherwise, park at Gate 1 and enter - the Project is to the left.]

Docents needed - Do you like to share with others the history of our county? Are you good at storytelling or talking with the public? During our open houses, docents are needed to help explain to the public the history of the Nevada County Narrow Gauge railroad. No need to bother with modelbuilding - just share the joy of knowing the county's railroad history! And we have the information, even if you don't! So if history is your passion, then become a NCNG Project docent.

Junior Members Welcomed - A special catagory for Junior Members ( 12-18, with an accompanying adult member) is also available. Junior members are encouraged to learn the ins and outs of model railroading, as well as the history of the Nevada County Narrow Gauge railroad. A family adult will need to participate with the junior member. If you know of a young person who is good at modeling, or likes history, then help them become an active Junior Member.

NEW! Live Steam Fn3 scale Project - The NCNG Project is in the process of creating a special Fn3 scale (20.3 to 1) portable layout for live steam engines of the N.C.N.G railroad (Accucraft) on the patio. Those interested in working with the larger scale or running live steam engines, are encouraged to join and help with this project.

Attention School Teachers! - Are you teaching Nevada County history, or transportation history, and would like to give your students a unique experience revisiting the Nevada County Narrow Gauge railroad. Our museum quality model is bound to inspire the imagination of your students. Contact us to make arrangements for your class's own special tour of this historical model railroad exhibit. Due to potential conflict with other fairground events, tours are generally scheduled well in advance in order to make proper arrangements. Please contact us for more information.
